Weeks After a Fire, Voorhees Town Center Remains Closed

A struggling mall remains closed more than three weeks after a two-alarm fire damaged it. Bright orange “order to vacate” signs are posted at several entrances to Voorhees Town Center, which was hit by a smoky blaze on April 19. Township officials decided to condemn the building after a meeting to review damage “to structural members in the fire area,” Voorhees Fire Department Chief Jim Poland said on May 10. The order, affecting the mall’s common areas, will remain until a structural engineer deems it safe or necessary repairs are made, Poland said.
